We had no difficulties connecting another optical audio cable to our home receiver's input for digital audio passthrough when we weren't using the A40 headphones. Once the optical audio cable is plugged into the MixAmp's transmitter base and powered, it takes a simple sync operation to get the receiver hooked up. Other than the occasional logistical hurdle, setting up the A40 should be a short affair. We've looked at a few possible workarounds for such a situation and will update this review with solutions if they prove viable. Thanks.Unless your receiver provides you with such a luxury, the constant plugging and unplugging of an optical cable can get tiresome. And in spending that money I thought I would have a headset that would last me several years. My question is, does anyone else have this issue with their Astro headsets? Should I try to contact their support? Is it even worth the hassle of getting a new headset? I am just a bit disappointed considering this headset costs $250 USD which is a considerably higher asking price than many other brands. The paint is coming off both the front and back of the top bar and the headset looks like it might have received years of use in this state instead of just a month and a half. One day I went to go pick up my headset off my desk and put it on my head and I noticed that a large amount of the black finish was missing from the plastic top of the headset. I gave the headset several ocular pat downs but I could not find the source of the specks since I figured they must have been coming off the headset. I then noticed that the specks got bigger and bigger each time I went to use and put on the headset. Within the first few weeks of owning the headset I noticed that small black specks were on my hands after putting the headset on my head. I would say I use the headset five to six times a week so quite often. The headset came brand new, sealed in box and were flawless. I picked up a pair of Astro A40 TRs at the beginning of July off Amazon.
